Back in the summer, I was busy buying furniture for our holiday home when my phone rang. It was Manifesto, about a job! The role they were offering sounded interesting and challenging too, and I was delighted to accept. The summer went by in a flash and, before I knew it, it was autumn and time to get started.
I’m Marikki, the new graphic designer at Manifesto. Before joining Manifesto, I spent about a year working as an in-house graphic designer as part of Oneplus’s European marketing team.
Whilst I enjoyed the job, I knew that what I really wanted was to get back into the agency world. I’m definitely in my element working with a busy client roster and really getting to focus on understanding where they’re coming from and what their needs are.
I already have prior experience of working in the creative agency setting, as I spent more than three years at Republic of Communications as a graphic designer earlier in my career. During my time there, I worked on various different accounts, including Huawei, Telia and VR.
What fascinates me about working at an agency is that the opportunities are pretty much endless, and you really get to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. I enjoy designing the big picture stuff and seeing how the aesthetic evolves as the project progresses. For inspiration I turn to nature, my love of cinema and ordinary everyday situations.
My professional experience to date includes the creation of new visual identities and overseeing their roll out across various channels, including print, digital and social media. I have designed campaign visuals and assumed responsibility for managing deliverables including banners, outdoor media and campaign websites. I have also produced a range of supporting materials like strategy illustrations, infographics and presentations.
Alongside my graphic design work, I’m passionate about illustration, and I look forward to being able to incorporate that into my new job role.
Above all, I’m excited about the opportunity to expand Manifesto’s visual communications and graphic design portfolio.
It has been a genuine joy to join the Manifesto team. Everyone has given me such a warm welcome and made me feel right at home here.
